Andrew Arango, DDS, MD, FACS

As a board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon who is both a licensed physician and a licensed dentist, Dr. Arango is uniquely qualified to perform surgeries of the face and of the oral cavity. He practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with an emphasis in orthognathic/reconstructive jaw surgery, sleep apnea, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) reconstructive surgery. He also has special interests in dental implants, wisdom teeth, bone grafting, and facial trauma reconstruction.

Dr. Andrew Arango was born and raised in Dallas and attended Christ the King Catholic School and Jesuit College Preparatory School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University.

Dr. Arango continued his education at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, where he received his dental degree. He graduated top of his class, being inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. Dr. Arango became drawn to surgery during dental school and went on to attend medical school at UT Health San Antonio, Long School of Medicine. After graduating medical school, Dr. Arango completed an internship in General Surgery and Anesthesiology at University Hospital. During this time, he was selected by his peers into the Gold Humanism Honor Society for his compassionate, collaborative, and scientific care for patients.

Dr. Arango then finished his extensive training by completing a residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas-Health Science Center in San Antonio. During his time there he trained under some of the most world renown surgeons in jaw/orthognathic surgery, facial reconstruction and TMJ surgery.

Dr. Arango believes in an all-around, multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and feels that communication between medical and dental colleagues is essential to successful patient treatment.

In 2022 Dr. Arango was inducted into the American College of Surgeons, for successfully performing many high-risk surgical cases. He was one of the youngest surgeons in his specialty to ever receive this award. Less than 1 percent of all Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons have reached such an achievement.

Dr. Arango is certified in PALS (Pediatric Advanced Lift Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), ATLS (Advanced Traumatic Life Support), and BLS (Basic Life Support).
